The funeral for the late, great, mcnett music legend is one of my favorite events that I attend. I love how the show is built around the musical stylings of the deceased, like songs from the MCR era to the current hits, and how that helps us understand the life lived through music. It is also a very special event for me because I was one of the primary musicians that brought his music to the world.
I have always believed that the music that you hear on the radio is the music that you hear in your head. No matter if it’s an oldie, a classic, or a pop song, that music is what you hear in your head. A lot of the same happens with songs and albums by the same artist, so it’s no surprise that the same songs and albums play over and over again.
One of the biggest reasons that I became a fan of Michael Connelly’s music was playing it back at his funeral. I remember getting to the funeral because I was on my way home to get a haircut and I was listening to the radio and suddenly I heard the song “Crying Out” by Michael Connelly. I literally jumped out of my skin and started playing that song right there on the bus. I was the only person on the bus that did this.
Michael Connelly was a music producer and musician who was involved in music of such heavy weight and impact that the media and his fans would go on to name him for years as one of their favorite musicians of all time. While he was well known for his musical and public appearances he also began to write and produce songs himself. He was also a very talented songwriter and musician, who wrote most of the songs for the band the Black Crowes.
I had seen the band on TV and was a big fan, so I was excited to see that the fans that were so eager to see him made the trek to the funeral of the man who had changed my life. They paid a visit to his grave and they weren’t disappointed. The service itself was very moving, which was a surprise as I’m not used to seeing it that way. It was well attended, with fans and friends of Connelly getting to pay their respects.
The funeral was for a man I had never met, but who I never thought I would see again. I had given up on him in the past as his music seemed to have been all over the place, and I had moved on to other things. But when I saw the man in the crowd, I knew I had to talk to him.
I had been hoping the service would be about him, but instead it was the first time I’d ever seen someone else’s loved ones, and it was very touching. It was also just the sort of thing I wish I could do myself.
I’ve been meaning to talk to someone I’ve known for years, and I’ve thought about the man every time I see him. Even though his face has been in the news a few times, I still can’t say I’ve ever heard his voice. I think it’s because he wasn’t really there.
The man Ive been talking about is Matt Connett, the man who had his face in the news but was in a coma for a long time, only to wake up to find his face on the cover of a book.
According to the Telegraph, Connett died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. His friends are keeping his death quiet until the day they know exactly what happened – how he became ‘immortal’ and how he died.
